What’s the first thing you pack when you go away on holiday?
Mine is this – a Puzzler.
For years it has been the first item to go in my carry-on bag. I puzzle on the plane, I puzzle on the beach, and sometimes I puzzle on an evening with a drink. I puzzle on my own mostly (I’m the only one who enjoys the cryptic crosswords) but there’s also puzzles I do with my husband and daughter. Missing Links, a Honeycomb, a Cross Quiz, an Arrow Word.
As a copywriter by trade, it sounds like a bit of a busman’s holiday to spend my time off playing with words. But it really is my idea of fun. I love words, I love writing.
I know that more and more people are choosing ChatGPT, Claude and Jasper to do their copywriting and my role may soon become obsolete, but I still believe that humans are capable of creating more original content than generative AI.
Maybe I am programmed to write, same as AI tools are, but I definitely have something they don’t. A genuine love of words that doesn’t stop, even when my out of office is on.
